Today's daily feature is very much pigeon-holed for the aviation folks that frequent this website. The IEM attempts to process the NWS's Terminal Aerodome Forecasts (TAF) and provides a downloadable archive of the atomic data. The featured graphic is also available, which attempts to visually show the raw TAF information in the form of a time series chart. The featured example is a TAF valid for Fort Dodge. The shaded areas represent the computed flight condition, which places limits on aviation. In this case, the red area represents "Instrument Flight Rules" and would limit what types of aircraft are permitted to fly.
