It was muggy and then some on Tuesday for Iowa. The featured map presents computed maximum dew point temperatures from the airport weather stations based on available observations. Dew point temperatures reached at least 80°F for a good portion of the state. The Boone (BNW) airport (just west of Ames) reported a statewide maximum of 86°F, while that was likely a few degrees overdone, it was certainly "air that you wear" over Iowa yesterday. Dew point temperatures are expected to be a few degrees cooler today, but heat index values will again be pushing triple digits.
