Temperatures had dropped into the low to mid 50s in east central Iowa where comfortable humidity levels and clear skies were common. Progressing farther west across the state, humidity levels increased along with temperatures with readings in the mid to upper 60s in far western Iowa overnight. Scattered showers and thunderstorms were also occurring across the western third of the state overnight with light southeast winds statewide. The threat for storms remains across the west into this morning before some gradual decrease in coverage. Otherwise, the lower dewpoints in eastern Iowa spread west into today with more comfortable humidity levels across the eastern half of the state. Highs today will be somewhat cooler with highs mostly from 75 to 80 degrees across the state. Tonight and beyond: Relatively quiet weather is expected tonight with pleasant overnight readings. A few showers may linger in far western Iowa but relatively clear skies are expected in most locations. Slightly warmer temperatures are forecast into Friday with an increasing threat for a few storms in the far west by late in the day. The chance for storms will increase across the state into Saturday into early Sunday as a system crosses the state. Temperatures are forecast to remain near normal into the weekend as well. $$
