The showers moved to the southeast producing mostly light rain. Otherwise, light south winds continued statewide with temperatures ranging from the mid 50s to mid 60s. The threat for scattered showers and thunderstorms will persist today across much of Iowa with a slow moving system passing through the Midwest. Some localized heavy rainfall remains possible with only a limited threat for severe weather, mainly in southwest Iowa. The considerable cloud cover should keep temperatures in check for afternoon highs with readings mostly in the 70s although a few 80s may occur in the south. Tonight and beyond: The threat for showers and storms persists into tonight across Iowa. However, the activity is expected to sink south out of the state by midday Sunday as the system departs the region. Rather tranquil weather is then forecast for the first half of next week with little threat of precipitation along with warming temperatures. $$
