With school starting for much of the state today and football season about underway, it was fitting for the weather this past weekend to be very much fall-like as well. With high temperatures in the lower 70s and low humidity, it was a crisp taste of fall season weather! The featured chart presents the observed frequency during each day of August for a high temperature below 75°F for Ames. The values plotted above each bar are the number of years over the period of record with as cool a high temperature. These events certainly increase in frequency as the month progresses, but overall values are only ranging from about 5 to 15%. Pleasant temperature look to stick around for at least this week along with dry conditions.
