NWS Omaha issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning (SVR) Tuesday evening for parts of Montgomery and Page counties in southwestern Iowa as a passing storm brought 60 MPH winds. This was the first SVR warning of the year for Iowa. The featured map plots the first such warning polygon each year since 2000 based on unofficial IEM archives. The plot subtitle lists the WFO counts (number of years) of having such an event issued by the given office. While the favored region is far southern Iowa, there have been plenty of events elsewhere in the state.
