IEMBot is an instant messaging program that automagically relays NWS issued text products onto XMPP/Jabber. IEMBot has been around for almost ten years now and has been happily using a conference service provided by Appriss, Inc. Unfortunately, this conference service is being discontinued, so IEMBot has moved its chat rooms to a service on weather.im.
If you are currently using the Appriss server, two things have changed.
- The conference service changes from muc.appriss.com to conference.weather.im
- The WFO room names were previously prefixed with 'zz' and that is now removed. So if you joined zzdmxchat, the room is now just dmxchat.
As a reminder, this service is provided without warranty and is for educational purposes. IEMBot was originally developed about ten years ago to support the IEMChat project and has not required many code changes over the years, happily chugging along. IEMBot even had a child NWSBot, who now lives with the NWSChat project (the takeover of IEMChat by the National Weather Service).
Please let me know of any questions.
