Hourly Temp Frequencies

Posted: 28 Jun 2021 05:32 AM

Temperatures were pleasant this past weekend after some very warm conditions that dominated the previous weeks of June. The featured chart presents a histogram of hourly temperature observations from the Des Moines airport. Values are analyzed by week of the year and binned into temperature ranges. The chart's legend presents the overall frequencies for the chosen bins. It is interesting to note that having temperatures over 90 degrees is about as frequent as having temperatures below 0 degrees! The chart nicely illustrates the annual progression of the seasons with sub freezing temperatures departing for the warm half of the year and making a quick return in October. July clearly shows up with the highest frequencies of the warmest temperatures, but the present forecast for the start of July does not look exceptionally hot.

Good = 15
