2020 High Temp Departures

Posted: 16 Oct 2020 05:32 AM

High temperatures on Thursday were finally a bit below average, breaking a streak of 10 straight days for Des Moines above average. The featured chart presents the daily departures for high temperature this year and some wild variability is noted for the past two months. Temperature variability tends to be muted during the summer months as elevated humidity levels act to regulate the air temperature. The absence of said humidity this time of year allows for much wilder swings in air temperature. The forecast has another wild swing back to near 70 on Saturday before crashing back into the 40s and 50s next week.
