Some more wintery precip

Posted: 14 Dec 2009 06:15 AM

The featured map from the IEM Freeze application shows an area of light freezing rain and snow causing some travel difficulties this Monday morning. The map combines air temperatures (numeric values) with RWIS pavement temperatures (colored dots) and NEXRAD reflectivity. There is currently nearly a 40 degree temperature gradient over the state with near 40 in far SE Iowa and near 0 in far NW Iowa. Once this system passes, very cold air will settle in the state on Tuesday with highs in the single digits.
