From: Meader, Shane Date: Oct 1, 2007 11:17 AM We were driving westbound on I-80 just east of Grinnell last night (8/30/2007) through heavy thunderstorms. At about 6:53 my wife Eileen says, "that could be a tornado" pointing to a sharp dip in the clouds. It was, and I got the camera. The photos catch only a glimpse of the action. Rotation was easily visible as I took the first photo (1438). Right after we passed the farm in the background we could see that it was touching the ground and swirling the top of the corn. That was about 300 yards directly south of us. Right after that I got the last photo where it is visible from the top left snaking down behind the trees as a much more developed funnel cloud. It was an incredible sight.
